I-Vada podcast

Project Overview
Body Positive in Crewe commissioned I-Vada, an audio podcast exploring LGBT history and culture. Hosted by Jonathan Mayor, Sally Probert-Hill and Colin Vickory, the series aims to educate through a fun, occasionally transgressive lens.

The Approach
This was strictly an audio project, but the standards were high. We needed to bring a broadcast-quality studio directly to the client’s office. The production also included a creative challenge: we produced a standalone radio comedy drama to feature within every episode.

Challenges & Solutions
Acoustics were the primary issue. The designated recording space was a standard meeting room with hard, reflective surfaces – a nightmare for clean audio.

To fix this, we treated the room heavily. We installed portable sound absorption to kill the reverb and used radio-grade microphones to isolate the voices. This turned a noisy office environment into a tight, professional sound stage. Integrating the comedy drama also added complexity, requiring distinct sound design to differentiate it from the main discussion.

Outcome
The result is a polished, professional series that captures the energy of the hosts without the distraction of poor audio. It delivers the production value of high-quality radio from a simple meeting room.
